How to Use the MT5 Strategy Tester for Backtesting

Accessing the Strategy Tester

1. Press Ctrl + R or go to View > Strategy Tester.

2. Select your Expert Advisor (EA) or indicator.

Running a Backtest

1. Choose a symbol and timeframe.

2. Set the model type (Every Tick, 1-minute OHLC, etc.).

3. Click Start to run the test.

Analyzing Backtest Results

• Review the Graph and Report tabs for performance insights.

• Adjust strategy settings and re-run for optimization.

💡 Tip: A high backtest win rate doesn’t guarantee future performance—always forward-test as well!
